Ministry of Silly Walks

Team Sky, not content with world domination on the cycling scene are now trying to branch out in the field of unusual gaits. Here are a selection of photos from Jedburgh in this years Tour of Britain where the team were seen practising for the up and coming “Strange Strolls from the Podium 2012” contest in Walk Ki Ki.

He’s not the Eis man, he’s a very naughty boy!

Tour of Britain 2012

I have just returned from two days covering the Tour of Britain for some regional papers in Scotland and Northern England and the verdict is BRILLIANT! The crowds were immense, the organisation second to none and the cyclists were very approachable and indeed friendly.

This is the biggest race that i have had accreditation for and it certainly lives up to its billing.

I am just sorry that i am not following the whole race and will be looking on with envy as it progresses through the rest of the week without me

So the man who never gives up a fight has given up the fight. I find this very telling. If Lance Armstrong really is innocent of doping he would fight tooth and nail to protect his name, his reputation and his legacy. Armstrong has spent a good deal of his career bad mouthing anybody who threatened to derail him. Not even in an intelligent way. He just besmirched their names and being the powerful man he WAS the chattering classes nodded in agreement. Times up Lance. Even if you are innocent the mask has slipped. For all the undoubted good you have done for cancer sufferers worldwide you have done great harm to cycling and many of your fellow competitors in the way you have gone about your business.

I personally am glad for the sport that it has come to this and now the stories are coming out i am glad that the people who have stood against him are finally getting vindication for their bravery. Stand up David Walsh, Paul Kimmage, Christophe Bassons et al!

Let it Be, Paul

I don’t wish to be controversial but how much better was the Olympic Closing Ceremony without Sir Macca?

Legendary he may be but he aint no Roger Daltrey/Ray Davies these days

If thats a Trott wait til she gallops!

If you saw Laura Trott in action at the Olympic velodrome today you have probably just witnessed the beginning of a gold medal career that will better Sir Chris Hoys. Bearing in mind that she is only twenty and has three to four more Olympics to come you can probably see where i am coming from. The fact is she is simply the hottest female track star of a generation and whilst its sad to see Victoria Pendleton retire it looks like her mantle (albeit in different disciplines) will be taken over by someone with even greater potential.

The whole Olympic games has been another magnificent triumph for British Cycling and despite the fact that the rules were drastically changed after the Beijing games to prevent one country (ie us!) from dominating the Brits rose to the challenge and equalled the 2008 medal haul.

Of course the icing on the cake is the utter demolition of those perma-tanned upstarts from Down Under. A Meare(s) one gold at the velodrome!!!

Bring on the Hard Bastards

I have the pleasure of snapping the Ironman Uk this coming Sunday for a couple of publications. Please spare a thought for me. I have to get up at 5.00 am and chug around the Lancashire countryside for 12 hours and then spend another 5 hours in Bolton town centre giving my all. Its proper hard work. Those athletes have got the clean end of the stick I can tell you!

Seriously i take my hat off to every last one of them (some are proper rotund as well). They are doing something i could never even contemplate. My head would fall off before half way and it would all end in abject failure.

Photos will be appearing on my website early next week but here’s a taster from previous events.

Good luck nutters!!!!!!
